Life and the game of tennis

Respect is a feat that is earned and not demanded. Most people seek to be dignified through arrogance and pride. They deem respect as automatic just because of a certain accomplishment. To them, being humble through service is being too soft and weak, descending so low from your status. This has never been the case. Humility doesn't reduce our rank but rather increases it. Life is a lot like a game of tennis, the one who serves well seldom loses(John C. Maxwell). The lord elevates the humble but never delights in the proud. Let's strive to achieve success through humility and service.

Changing the play, getting new results.

Most often than not, many people expect  different results without a change in what they do to bring those results. They want to have their cake and eat it, but it doesn't work that way. A change in previous actions with a new approach is a step to getting a different result and possibly a desired one. Do you hate those examination results on the wall?, the business outcomes?, it is time to change how the cards are being played and take a new approach, try something new, be daring enough and see your way through.

Breaking the chains of failure.

One of the worse masters you could ever find in life is failure. His gruesome looks and his attempts to retrogress lives are what he subjects his servants to. He kills dreams and quenches the flames of ambitions and aspirations. When failure keeps us to his beck and calls, desperation, anxiety and frustrations become the order of the day. It is high  time we broke the chain of service to this iniquity of a master. No longer being subservient but strive to liberate ourselves from our failure. The dominance of "the Lord"(failure) is temporary but victory lasts forever.

Fallen man's tale.

A great advantage life presents us with in our quest to climbing to the top is the exemplary tales of men who fell in pursuance of the same course. These tales are those that sends chills in our spines as we deemed them treasures in our advisory chest. They are guidelines to those beginning to climb and those already in the climbing process. The tale of a fallen man is a  recipe to standing tall in your bid to being successful. Let's treasure these tales and avoid repetition of the blunders that caused their fall. Remember, a mistake done over again becomes a choice.

You are bigger than what they say.

Life's a lot more like a teacher they say. There are lessons to everyday choices and decisions. The lessons are to make us better than what we used to be yesterday. If there's anything to be afraid of, It is definitely not what people will say. It should  be the many home works piled under your bed undone. Your tendency to becoming better than what you used to be yesterday is curtailed by your failure to submit life's home works for corrections. Let's strive to become better them who we were yesterday, it is the greatest step to being successful.

Collins Nana Andoh writes.

The ministry of education really needs to focus on producing quality students. If you check the country's budget, chunk of it goes into infrastructural development (in the educational sector) which is equally good but the provision of textbooks, teaching and learning materials, feeding grant and many other things; these in one way or the other cater for the quality of the current crop of students we are producing as a country. Though we need more schools we equally have to focus on the existing schools, making sure that they get all the needed logistics as well as giving the teachers what they also need.  The provision of Vehicles to the second cycle schools is in the right direction and should be backed by many other initiatives and policies especially in the case of monitoring and supervision.

Last but not the least, one other side of this whole argument has to do with the evolution of social media and telenovelas. The advent of social media has really been of enormous importance as it has relieved us of the burden and removed communication barriers making human interactions easy. However, it has become more of a bad master exposing students to a lot of unwholesome contents in the outside world.. Such contents include pornography and the dissemination of nude pictures among opposite sex and sex tapes at the expense of their books. The frequent leakage of examination papers could also be attributed to this. Much of their time is also spent on various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Imo, Facebook etc.- an attitude that has bad implications on their academic performance. Not to mention the menace telenovelas seem to have become to learning. They have flooded our television screens taking most of student's time leaving them little time for their studies.

In the light of the aforementioned challenges facing the current educational system, I wish to bring to the notice of the minister of education to in conjunction with the right stakeholders resolve all these challenges as soon as possible. I wish to also state that the failure cannot be only blamed on an individual; hence a holistic approach is required. Therefore an emergency forum with experts in the area of education is necessary to curb this perennial fiasco in our student's examination; else the future of the country will be as bleak as ever.

Thinking Aloud.

Being neutral doesn't mean not choosing a side. I have had a hard time digesting this but on a cursory look, I have come to the realisation that sometimes it is really difficult not to have a like for someone or something in our judgements. Neutrality sets in when we remove our likes and favourite cap and provide judgement on even grounds for whatever things before us. Some people say they are neutral to mean they don't have any like for any of the sides but in their judgements, the grounds are not even. Conversely a person can have a side and still provide an even ground for both sides. Controversial as it may be, it is quite the reality on the ground
